Von Holt Wines 2015 Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay
For over 100 years the Heintz family has been growing some of the best cool-climate Chardonnay grapes in California. The 2015 proved to be quite a solid vintage, leading to wines of elegance and refinement. A brilliant, shimmering light to medium yellow in color, Von Holt’s 2015 Chardonnay is far from the rich, oaky style often found in California. Aromatics of tart pineapple, fresh crisp Granny Smith apple, white peach and Meyer lemon are complimented by soft notes of vanilla and light caramel as the wine evolves in the glass. The medium-bodied palate is textured and balanced, with a welcoming acidity that is perfectly integrated with the refreshing citrus and apple fruit notes. Its clean, lingering finish was the perfect compliment to my dinner pairing of grilled halibut and sauteed spinach.

About the Vineyard:
The Heintz family has been growing some of the best cool-climate wine grapes in California for more than 100 years. Located just outside the Sonoma County town of Occidental, less than ten miles from the equally famous Suacci Vineyard, the Heintz ranch is renowned for Chardonnay. The Heintz family has sold fruit to the likes of Kosta Browne and Williams-Selyem, two producers featured prominently in Top 10 lists year after year.
