Terra Valentine 2010 Marriage
Spring Mountain wines are quite unique to their location with a lean yet powerful muscularity. At elevations above the fogline, the hangtime is longer which allows for structured and complex fruit. Add to that the volcanic soils and you have a wine displaying profound flavors.
Visually the wine appears dark cherry red in color with beautiful ruby hued edges. Aromas surge from the glass with currants, cranberry, dried herbs, leather and a hint of black licorice. A sip reveals an explosion of black fruit flavors at the onset; black cherry, blackberry, and boysenberry evolve into tertiary flavors of ripe plum, leather and tobacco on the mid-palate. The finish is medium in length with notes of coffee, black tea and earth. This wine is immediately enjoyable now and can age for five to six more years. ~Tasting notes by Denise Cody, Cellar Angels' Chief Operating Angel

About the Vineyards:
Sourced from two estate vineyards, Wurtele Vineyard and the Yverdon Vineyard, this wine captures all that is unique about the Spring Mountain AVA. Each vineyard is distinguished in its own way, providing a unique set of soils, exposures, and microclimates and allowing for wines of distinction and personality. At the same time, both vineyard sites provide a sense of mountain terrain and vines well adapted to the environment. While mountain sites in general present challenges including accessibility, diversity of soils, ripening and hand labor, they produce wines filled with intense flavor and color.
