About the Vineyard & Vintage:
The Rutherford Vineyard is 35 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc in an ideal location for these Bordeaux varietals. Located on the Rutherford Bench, a strip of mineral-rich alluvial soils of sandy clay from the nearby Mayacamas Mountains, this vineyard has deep, well-draining soil that produces concentrated, complex fruit. The climate is ideal for these varietals and in 2007 the weather was dry and mild. Long, sunny days and minimal rainfall made this a nearly perfect growing season in which the grapes were able to ripen slowly to a perfect balance of acid and sugar, with a complexity to make legendary wine.
