Roessler Cellars 2008 'Hein Family’ Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, CA
The Hein Family’ vineyard is located in the heart of what is called the “Deep End” of Anderson Valley. This area is much cooler than other parts of the region because of its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The marine influence brings cool evenings and foggy mornings to create an ideal venue for growing classic Burgundy style varietals. This Pinot Noir opens up with a creamy fruit character which resolves into cherry cream with toasted-oak overtones. Bright red and black cherry on the palate starts off reserved, but after a little time both the aromas and flavors expand with lush fruit and a broadening range of spicy, earthy notes. Further time in the glass yields smoked, cured meats along with dense, dried and candied fruit, all complementing a solid base of bright cherry and spice.
