Passaggio Wines 2018 Rosé of Tempranillo
Passaggio Wines is the epitome of "small batch" winemaking. Each year winemaker Cindy Cosco hovers around only 1,700 cases, and she does this with much love and dedication. The story behind her 2018 Rosé of Tempranillo is a sweet one. Cindy dedicated this label to her mom, who "always saw the world through rose colored glasses." And Cindy notes, "She's right. Here's to the good life!"
As huge rosé lovers, we were very excited to get a small allocation of this wine for our members! The color is a striking, pale salmon that shimmers in the glass. The aromatics beg for the beach or a day on the boat, with its welcoming fresh wild raspberry and strawberry, orange citrus rind, white peach and the softest hints of white flower and vanilla. Each sip is quite refreshing and shows great balance, with red raspberry and sweet orange and grapefruit citrus flavors. The finish keeps on going, and offers just the right amount of acidity for sipping solo or pairing with a range of lighter, warm weather dishes!

About the Winemaker:
Following a 15-year career in Law Enforcement in Northern Virginia, Cindy Cosco moved to California to pursue her deep-rooted passion for winemaking in 2004. For the following three years, Cindy studied enology at Napa Valley College while she gained industry experience working wine retail, which led her to a full time position as Wine Chemist at Chateau St Jean. She decided it was time to make her own wine in 2007, where she partnered with custom crush facility, Crushpad. It was here she first launched Passaggio Wines with a mere 50 cases of Unoaked Chardonnay. Hired on as Winemaker at Crushpad in 2010, Cindy ran their white wine program through 2012, then parted ways to focus solely on building Passaggio Wines. You can now experience her very boutique collection – she makes only 1,700 cases each year – in beautiful downtown Sonoma.
