MacLaren Wine 2014 Syrah, Samantha's Vineyard, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County
This single vineyard, tiny production Syrah shows off a beautiful, deep ruby robe. You may also notice a slight haze, as it was unfined and unfiltered during the winemaking process to retain a greater depth of aromas, flavors and complexity. Aromas are delicately integrated with red plum, blackberry and black cherry fruit notes –– layered with subtle hints of smoke, vanilla, dried herbs and charcuterie. Medium in body, with a mouthwatering acidity and fine-grained tannins leading to a lingering finish.

Winemaker
Steve Law
About The Winemaker:
After moving from his native Scotland to work in the tech industry in France, Steve Law and his friends would regularly enjoy weekends immersed in French culture and the country’s wine regions. Here he discovered his palate and passion for wine, notably the Sauvignon Blanc from Loire Valley, Pinot Noir from Burgundy, Rosé from Provence, and Viognier from Condrieu. But it was in Northern Rhone that he discovered Syrah... and his world changed. His tech career eventually led him to Northern California, where he later took a friend’s advice and decided to dive straight into his obvious passion for wine. Steve worked his first harvest in 2006, produced his first vintage of Syrah under his own label in 2007, and the rest is history!
About The Vineyard:
Samantha's Vineyard sits on the northeast side of Russian River Valley bordering Chalk Hill AVA. The steep terraced-style vineyard is planted to the Alban clone on Spreckels loam with only 60 inches of soil on top of bedrock.
