Loomis Family Vineyards 2010 Ember, Napa Valley, CA
Loomis Family Vineyards 2010 "Ember"
This estate grown red blend, Ember, is produced only in years where conditions allow for grapes of exceptional quality. This is only the second time Ember has been released…let it light a spark in you. Loomis Family Vineyards’ wines are distinct by being true to the varietals produced in an Old World style. Aromas and flavors of ripe fruits such as red cherry, plum and blackberry blend perfectly with spice and a supple mouth feel. Slight gamey notes, nuances of smoked spice and the idea of wild flowers will keep you coming back sip after sip. Expect great acidity and a long finish from this sagacious wine.

About the Winemaker:
Timothy Milos, the Winemaker for Loomis Family Vineyards, came into the wine industry with a different background than most. Though he was raised in northern California, he did not grow up in the wine industry. However, his unusual journey makes him oddly suited for a career in winemaking. He attended UC Berkley and Sonoma State University where he studied Cell Biology and worked at the USDA Plant Gene Expression Center. This led him to a Master’s degree in Molecular Plant Pathology at Cornell.
This is the point at which fate intervened and Timothy met Rob Thomas, an expert winemaker. Introduced to the combination of art, science and soul that is winemaking, Timothy discovered that all of his passions were combined in the winemaking process. So Timothy redirected his efforts. While working at Stags’ Leap Wine Cellars andOpus One he studied winemaking and viticulture in the Master of Food Science program at the University of California-Davis. He went on to become Winemaker at S. Anderson Vineyards and eventually left to form his own wine consulting business, Vino di Milos.
