Knights Bridge Winery 2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Notes:
In the glass, this elegant Cabernet shows off an opaque, deep red garnet core. Medium-bodied, with layers of fresh blackberry, plum and fig aromas leading to notes of vanilla, baking spices, sweet tobacco and subtle dried herbs. The palate is well-balanced, with dark berry fruits and notes of vanilla and spice enveloped by soft, round tannins and a pleasing acidity. Drinking beautifully now, or cellar for a few years more.

About the Vineyard:
Located on the southern boundary of the stunning Knights Valley AVA of Sonoma County, the Knights Bridge estate vineyard sits at 300-900 feet in elevation on the rocky slopes of the Mayacamas mountain range north of Calistoga. The sustainably farmed property overlooks breathtaking views of rolling hills, steep mountains and gentle valleys. Cool Pacific winds provide the grapes with longer hang time to develop richer flavors, while iron-rich and white-ash tufa (calcium carbonate) soils combine to create the perfect blend of climate and location for their Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc vines to thrive.

Additional Winemaker Notes:
- 2014 was the third consecutive year of drought in Knights Valley. However, the lack of rain did not stand in the way of a nearly perfect growing season. Knights Valley experienced a mild winter, a dry spring, and no heat-spikes during the season. The long, dry days and cooler-than-normal summer encouraged an abundant crop and an early harvest. These ideal conditions allowed their estate fruit to ripen evenly, offering elegant, dark fruit with a juxtaposition of bright acidity and explosive flavors.
- Estate fruit harvested from 23 year-old hillside vines
- Aged 20 months in I00% French oak barrels, utilizing 85% new oak from Taransaud and Darnajou coopers, and an additional I6 months in bottle before release.
