Alexander Valley, Sonoma, CA
Ispiri Wines 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley, Sonoma, CA
Standing as a testament that Cabernet Sauvignon can be rich, complex and luscious given the right location and growing conditions, this wine started on a quiet isolated Sonoma mountainside overlooking the Alexander Valley. Averaging over 1,000 feet above the valley floor, the Cabernet vineyards are nestled precariously along the Mayacamas Mountains. Warm days are long and the nights are uncomfortably cool, yielding small production from the vineyards and diminutive grapes that are impressively intense in tannins and flavors. Small grapes are ideal as they offer less pulp and concentrate flavors unique to this particular mountainous terrior. With additional aging, this alluring wine will continue to gain complexity and intrigue the senses for years to come.
“Inviting jammy aromas of black cherry, vanilla and chocolate immediately leap from the glass. Concentrated bold notes of plum and cassis are smoothly integrated with velvety sweet oak tannins. A complex and balanced wine ready to consume now but will continue to gain more depth in the next 5–7 years.” —Leslie Sisneros, winemaker
