Hersly Wines 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
For a long time, Coombsville was a well kept secret of famed Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon producers, who sourced fruit from the region to make world class wine. That is until the wineries and growers of Coombsville applied and received AVA (American Viticultural Area) status in 2011 for its unique terrior producing stellar wines. Now when you see Coombsville on the bottle, you know you're in for something special.
During a recent dinner party with a group of Cellar Angels members, an impromptu wine tasting of Hersly Wines Cabernet Sauvignon transpired. Here is the summary of their findings (the names have not been changed to reveal the guilty):
Rich and deep red/purple, the concentrated color mirrors the abundance of hearty aromas on the nose. Wafts of intense plum, black cherry, currants, clove, lavender, eucalyptus, and tobacco pleasantly fill the nose. Flavors are luxuriant and ample with black fruits up front leading to cigar box and bake shop spices on the mid-palate, and finishing with coffee, caramel and dark chocolate with well integrated tannins. ~Cellar Angels' Members: Amada Giordano, Dean Giordano, Michele Marsella, Brian Marsella
