The ultimate Cabernet lovers Merlot! It is the goal of Bolen Family Estates’ Proprietor, Eric Bolen, to produce the best Merlot in the world each year-a lofty goal to be sure. We at Cellar Angels think he has achieved his goal with this vintage 2008 Merlot. A beautiful deep ruby in color, the wine looks as supple and enticing as it tastes. Very plush aromas and flavors of red and blue fruits blend seamlessly with hints of minerality, tobacco, licorice and black tea. Flavors of enticingly over-ripe fruit, peppery spice and licorice hit mid-palate and lead to a prolonged finish. Amazingly balanced, this wine is drinking beautifully right now, but also has the potential to improve with age. With an unprecedented discount offered exclusively through Cellar Angels, this is the perfect wine to purchase in quantity to enjoy now and to explore how it evolves for years to come. This is an offer that absolutely must be taken advantage of as the Bolen team is only reducing the price of this wine so we can help make a difference for others this holiday season.

About the Winemaker:
Winemaker Tom Rinaldi is a true pioneer of Napa Valley Merlot. As the founding winemaker at now legendaryDuckhorn Vineyards, Tom has an impressive 30+ year legacy in Napa Valley. A former military man, Tom also earned a degree in Enology from the University of California, Davis before spending 22 years at Duckhorn. From there Tom moved on to Chalone Vineyard and then to Provenance Vineyards as well as consulting for fine wineries such as Bolen Family Estates. An avid biker, Tom is often seen riding his bike through the vineyards and around the Napa Valley. When discussing his passion for winemaking Tom says, “I love everything from anticipating the vineyards’ seasons to experimenting with new technologies. I love the way we use innovative practices right alongside traditional methods. For example, even as we’re using recent technology for sophisticated vineyard mapping, we’re also evaluating grapes by that most time-honored of methods—tasting.”
