Carneros, Napa Valley, CA
Arnot Roberts 2006 'Hudson Vineyard' Syrah
Glass-staining ruby. Suave, mineral-driven scents of cherry-cola, blackcurrant, incense and fresh flowers, with a strong undercurrent of minerals. Spicy, finely etched dark berry and cherry skin flavors stain the palate, with dusty tannins lending support and slow-mounting minerality adding vivacity. Impressively precise Syrah with excellent finishing cut and persistence.
About Arnot-Roberts
Since opening Arnot-Roberts in 2001, childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts have focused on small lot, vineyard designated Cabernet Sauvignons and Syrahs from some of Northern California’s most incredible vineyards.
Arnot-Roberts winery is the epitome of hand crafted, small production wines in California. Based in Healdsburg, Duncan and Nathan oversee every aspect of their operation. Nathan, a second generation cooper, personally selects the wood and builds all of the French oak barrels utilized in aging all of their wines. Duncan has worked making wine in the Napa Valley in wineries like, Caymus, Groth, Acacia and Kongsgaard and until 2008, as assistant winemaker at Pax Wine Cellars in Sonoma County. Now he focuses on personally selecting only the best vineyards to make the award winning wines at Arnot-Roberts.
The 2006 Hudson Vineyard ‘North Block’ Syrah is sourced from Los Carneros in Southern Napa Valley where Syrah clone #99 thrives in the cool breeze and stony volcanic soil. The power and elegance of the Syrah grapes grown by Lee Hudson is evidence in his transcendent viticultural practice and phenomenal dedication to quality. One of the oldest Syrah plantings in the Napa Valley, Hudson Vineyard has been the birthplace of some of the finest Syrah ever produced in California. The wine was fermented 100% whole cluster, 30% new French Oak.
