About the Winery:
Anaba’s name originates from cool, upward-flowing anabatic winds that soar and swirl through the sustainably-farmed Carneros Estate vineyards. In 2009, Anaba Wines became the first winery in Northern California to utilize wind power.
Like most wine journeys, this one began many years ago. A native of Chicago, John Sweazey headed west to Stanford University for college, where he earned a degree in economics. While at Stanford, John and his Kappa Sigma fraternity brothers decided one year to extend the annual “Big Game Weekend” between Stanford and Cal, and headed north to Napa Valley for a fraternity party at the iconic El Bonita Motel in St. Helena. With the sun setting over the Mayacamas Mountains, John offered a toast with a memorable glass of Charles Krug Vin Rosé — and his journey to the world of wine officially began.
About the Vineyard:
Gap’s Crown Vineyard is located on the western edge of Sonoma Mountain in the Sonoma Coast Appellation. The steep hillside location promotes natural airflow and soil drainage throughout the vineyard. This vineyard is known for its thinner, rockier soils that produce intensely flavored wines without compromising acidity and finesse.

About the Winemaker:
Anaba winemaker Jennifer Marion believes the art of winemaking finds its soul in the vineyard. “I’ve always said you cannot trust a winemaker with clean shoes and soft hands,” she says. “My winemaking philosophy is defined by attention to the details in the vineyard as well as the winery.”
Jennifer’s devotion to the vineyards began when she worked with Napa Valley-based Crop Care Associates, one of California’s largest independent agricultural technology consulting firms. At the time, she was completing her Viticulture and Enology degree at the University of California at Davis.
In addition to overseeing Anaba’s estate vineyards, she also works hand-in-hand with many of Sonoma County’s most esteemed growers who own such legendary properties as Sangiacomo Vineyard, Windsor Oaks, Ferguson Ranch and Bacigalupi Vineyard.
