Spicy Vines
For Crystalyn Hoffman, Co-Founder and Managing Director or Spicy Vines, a serendipitous and fortuitous experience occurred during a trip to Germany. She was intrigued by a local tradition of sipping delicious, hot mulled wine with friends. Returning home, she wondered how such a wonderfully social custom had not translated to American culture, so she set out to make the introduction.
Spann Vineyards
Nestled among the majestic coastal redwoods of the Mayacamas Mountains, the steeply terraced mountainside vineyard yields small amounts of richly flavored Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Sangiovese grapes. From this and select cool-climate vineyards throughout Sonoma County, Betsy and Peter Spann craft very limited quantities of European-style blended wines, strongly influenced by their admiration of Bordeaux, the Rhone Valley and Tuscany.
Originating in 1973, Sonoma-Cutrer’s foundation was built upon a selection of several key vineyard properties in the benchlands, hillsides and rocky foothills in what later became recognized as the Sonoma Coast Appellation – an area with long, even growing seasons due to the cool and foggy coastal climate.
Simple Math Cellars
Simple Math Cellars founder Christian Lane uses the following formula to produce high-quality wines: source from top notch vineyards, use modern winemaking techniques, then price the wine fairly. Using grapes sourced from organic, sustainable and/ or biodynamic vineyards only, Simple Math Cellars is dedicated to putting good things out into the world in a variety of ways.
Silverado Vineyards
Diane and Ron Miller started their journey in the 1970’s with the purchase of their first vineyards. “It was beautiful land, and it was land that was working,” says Diane Miller. The Millers sold their grapes to some of Napa’s best vintners, who made award winning wines from them year after year. Encouraged by the success of their grapes, Diane and Ron established Silverado Vineyards in 1981 with the goal of making the best wines the estate could produce and offering it at a fair price.
