Fall Release

wine club release fall 2019

Experience Schweiger Vineyards: the result of hard work of multiple generations meticulously farming carefully chosen clones of the finest wine varietals; hand-harvested, pressed, fermented, aged, and eventually bottled on the esteemed Spring Mountain estate winery. All under the watchful eye of a father and son wine growing team since 1961.

About Schweiger Vineyards: Family owned and operated Schweiger Vineyards is located on Spring Mountain at an elevation of 2,000 feet above the fog line.  Its rich volcanic soils and unique microclimates are particularly favorable for growing Cabernet Sauvignon.

For the first 10 years, the Schweigers sold their renowned fruit to Joe Cafaro, ZD, Newton and Stags Leap Winery. In 1994, Schweiger Vineyards began bottling wine under their own label under the direction of son Andrew Schweiger. In 1999 they began to focus solely on winemaking for Schweiger Vineyards.

The Schweigers are very conscious of their carbon footprint and utilize sustainable practices in their farming. “Sustainability is finding that balance between our environment and us.” Practices include: leaving large trees in place, hand-dug wells and natural springs for watering, solar panels for electricity, terracing of the vineyards, and composting. Schweiger Vineyards made their first Port in 1997, always from their estate grown Cabernet grapes and fortified with high quality brandy. While the name “Port” is limited to a specific style of wine made in Portugal, Schweiger was grandfathered in and legally allowed to use it on their labels. With respect for the legally protected regional name, they instead use their proprietary name, “Iteration”. Channeling a ruby port in style, this decadent dessert wine is packed with fresh cherry marmalade, ripe fig, cinnamon spice and vanilla toffee. Rich, but not cloying nor heavy, on the palate, with toffee, spice and dried red cherry which lead to a long, beautifully balanced finish. wine club release fall 2019

About Inspiration Vineyards: Born from a dream and a mid-life career change, Inspiration Vineyards was created in 2002. Jon Phillips' passion for wine, however, dates back much further to his grandparents who made wine in the early 1900's. For years, Jon was determined to break into the wine business by working weekends in tasting rooms, teaching wine classes and ultimately enrolling in a class at UC Davis in Enology and Viticulture.  Shortly thereafter Jon made his first barrel of wine, a Zinfandel. Increasing demand and a wider portfolio of wines forced Inspiration Vineyards to grow and move to its current location in 2009. A visit to Inspiration Vineyards these days greets you with hospitality of the nicest people around and a friendly winery dog to welcome you as well! Watch our exclusive interview here
