In 2008 small yields led to very concentrated fruit with luscious flavors. Dark fuchsia with a purple hue in the glass, the nose of the 2008 Laureate is as rich as the color promises, with dark cherries, licorice and notes of dark chocolate. The mouthwatering palate displays blackberry and ripe plums intermingling with black olives, hints of graphite and cigar box flavors. Intense yet balanced, with firm tannins and the energy of youth. The finish is long with more ripe cherry, cola and toffee notes.

General Food Pairing Suggestions:
Lamb, pork, sausage, grilled meats, stews, and game will all pair beautifully with this wine. Dishes with black olives, black pepper, pungent herbs, and mushrooms will also compliment nicely. Look for recipes where power is combined with elegance to mirror this wine’s style.
About the Winery
White Rock VineyardsSituated in a small valley in the southern foothills of the Stag’s Leap Range, White Rock Vineyards’ family-run estate began making wine in the 1870’s. The winery is located underground in the caves that were bored in 1988, one of the first winery caves dug since the 1800’s. Volcanic ash soils, mature hillside vines, a cooler climate, varied exposures, and the caves make these wines complex and concentrated with a mineral character that expresses the earth itself.Learn more
