From Bracero to Cellar Foreman to Winemaker - A Story of Honor and Wine

Honorio Ramirez-Mata was born in September of 1959 in San Salvador de los Ahorcados, Guanajuato Mexico.  This small village did not offer much of a future for anyone.  People were forced to live on a day to day basis. This was the way of life as they knew it.

At a very young age, Honorio was taught by his father, Fabian, that the only way to survive was to live and work in the city.  Which is just what he did. Fabian lived and worked in Mexico City and would send money back to his family in Guanajuato.

Why We Are In Oregon

By Guest Blogger Craig Camp, Managing Partner of Cornerstone Cellars

The Napa Valley is one of the few perfect places on earth to grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. Oregon’s Willamette Valley is one of the few perfect places on earth to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. One thing I know for sure is that if you have a Cabernet vineyard next to a Pinot vineyard, one or both of them are in the wrong place.

Winemaking: So Much More Than Just Wine

A blog, what a responsibility!!

The folks at Cellar Angels told me I could write a blog, I’m not actually sure what a blog is supposed to be other than a rambling stream of conscious. So, here goes. Oh, and I suppose it should be about something to do with Wine.

The other thing is, I’m not really much of a wine geek so my blog might be more about what I’m thinking and feeling than what it takes to make a great wine.
