"CRUSH"

by Guest Blogger, Christopher Doran, Winemaker and owner of J Doran Vineyards

People often ask what "Crush" is.  In it's simplest terms, Crush is the period of time when the grapes are harvested, and are then "Crushed" (hence the name) in the process of making wine. Crush runs from late August till November, sometimes extending further due to weather.  But crush is much, much more....

Growing Pinot Noir in Napa Valley | Elkhorn Peak Cellars

This is my 34th season growing Pinot Noir in the Napa Valley and as the years go on, I must say that I still enjoy growing grapes very much. Every year is different and presents its own set of unique challenges, but that’s what keeps me coming back!

How to bring Napa Valley to you

Unless you’ve attained independent wealth and the constraints of day-to-day responsibilities of career, children, meetings and financial obligations are no longer hijacking your time, the ability to travel to Napa Valley once per week and partake of the best wines from Cabernet to Pinot Noir, is nearly impossible. However, the desire to enjoy a weekly escapade of fine wine, exploration, luxury travel and sensational dining we hope never fades.

Pinot Noir Wines | MacPhail Family Wines Sonoma

One of the great joys of the wine business is finding a home at a place where the Pinot Noir wines, the people, and the place at which you work come together in great harmony.  I have been with MacPhail Family Wines for nearly 3 years and one of the most enjoyable parts of my job is the storytelling about the people and places from which our wines come.  We specialize in “wines of place”, wines that truly reflect the place from which they are grown.
