Hidden high in the hills overlooking St. Helena and beyond the famed luxury resort of Meadowood, is a home surrounded by great works of art, master artisan sculptures made of every medium. This unique property and winery is called Seven Stones, named after the massive granite sculpture that dons the estate.
Originally built as a private family estate by Ron and Anita Wornick, it soon became evident they were sitting on some of the most prime winemaking land in all of Napa Valley. After a little nudging by neighbors, grapevines were planted in the ideal well-drained, rocky, volcanic soils. With conditions such as these, they knew they needed to trust this small prized vineyard to a master winemaker.
Aaron Pott's inaugural Seven Stones vintage received critical acclaim and the wine sold out quickly. Since then the Wornicks have stayed true to their intentions to keep Seven Stones a small production winery with only 300 to 500 cases produced annually, making the allocation list highly sought after by wine enthusiasts and collectors.
About the Winemaker:
Behind every great wine is a brilliant winemaker, a wine whisperer of sorts; someone who knows how to let mother nature nurture the grapes in her own way, yet can step in to guide the process from the vine to a beautiful and balanced bottle of divine nectar.
With passion for the art of winemaking, Aaron Pott set out on his winemaking journey in 1990 at Newton Vineyard. He soaked in every morsel of information along the way from winemaking greats including John Kongsgaard, French consulting-winemaker Michel Rolland and Jean-Louis Mandreau, winemaker at Chateau Latour. Aaron traveled the world learning to make wine and in 1998 returned to California ready to bring his winemaking experience home.
With great acquired skill and a velvet touch, Aaron made a name for himself in Napa as he worked his magic at some famous wineries: Beringer, St. Clement and Quintessa. Currently one of the most desired winemakers in the valley, Aaron Pott launched a winemaking consulting company and now "whispers" to the grapes at exclusive boutique wineries, Bello Family Vineyards, Blackbird, Fisher Vineyards, Jericho Canyon, Perliss, V22, Quixote, Seven Stones and St. Helena Estate.
"I look forward to those foggy, pre-harvest mornings when you taste the grapes and begin to imagine what they will do in the glass." ~Aaron Pott
