In 2000, Roger Roessler, a long time restaurateur, and his brother Richard Roessler, an experienced home winemaker, merged talents to produce a library of first-rate cuvees under the Roessler Cellars label. Together, the brothers sought out the finest fruit from the West Coast and, over the years, created a diverse collection of terrior-driven Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.
Now under the Walt Wines label, the winery is dedicated to the production of premier Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Pacific Coast’s most distinctive vineyard sites, spanning nearly 1000 miles and including the AVAs of Sta. Rita Hills, Sonoma County, Anderson Valley and the Willamette Valley. Walt Wines focuses on a philosophy of precision and non-interventionist winemaking, thereby allowing the wines to naturally and honestly express the character of the site where the wines are grown. Leading the winemaking team is Director of Winemaking Steve Leveque and Winemaker Megan Gunderson.
