Robinson Family Vineyards
For second generation proprietor Susie, to whom the estate was passed from her father, and to Tom, who began dating Susie in high school, retirement meant focusing on the everyday operations of the family estate full-time and all the dirty hands, sore backs and number crunching that came with it. These are the same values that Susie and Tom instilled in their three daughters who, along with the eight grandchildren with whom the girls have blessed them, are the source of their greatest joy.
About the Vineyards:
Located in the southeastern region of Napa Valley, Coombsville is the newest legally recognized AVA in Napa Valley. This area tends to have a cooler climate that allows the fruit to ripen several weeks longer than other parts of the valley. Nestled between two slopes and surrounded by volcanic rock, the grapevines benefit from the heat of the day, balanced by crisp coastal nights.
About the Winemaker:
Winemaker Tim Dolven paired up with Robinson Family Vineyards. Tim discovered the beauty of Napa Valley wines in the 1980’s where he began his wine-focused career handling public relations for Robert Mondavi Winery (who also sources fruit from Coombsville for their flagship Insignia). He then began learning about the winemaking process hands on working at Joseph Phelps Winery. This led to opportunities at a variety of prestigious wineries over the years which allows him to create beautiful, complex wines.
