The Ramspur name comes from a combination of “ram”, the Spanish word for Carneros, and the location of this breathtaking "spur" of land.
Nancy Otton, Ramspur’s Owner and Winemaker, is a very busy woman with many talents. Not only does she make award-winning wine at Ramspur, she partners with two friends to make wine for Toolbox Wine Co. and she is a certified pilot!
After living many years in Marin County, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, Nancy and her family moved to a scenic and majestic property in Napa. The land was planted to Merlot and it wasn’t long until Nancy got bit by the winemaking bug. She was drawn to the vineyards and loved assisting in the process of converting wonderful grape juice into wine. Nancy was so taken by the grape growing and wine making that she and her husband, Terry, planted more grapes and began making wine under the name Ramspur Winery.
During that time, Nancy found herself working with Mark Swain, a Winemaker Consultant, who taught her so much. She’s honored to still work with him today.
Ramspur still grows grapes on their property. However, to make her delicious and award-winning Montage red blend, she sources some of the grapes from certain vineyard blocks within Napa. Take an opportunity to buy an extraordinary, ultra-small production wine from this family owned winery.
