Life's journey is sometimes circuitous, and for Orpheus Wines' owner and winemaker, that path started in Seattle while finalizing degrees in medical technology, biology and dance. Unsure how to move into the professional phase of his life, Marc Krafft took a long backpacking trip through Europe hoping for inspiration. Inspiration found him on a high speed train in France where he met an enthusiastic winemaker from Bordeaux. After a long conversation, Marc was infatuated with the idea of making wine and returned to the states with a clear ambition to learn the craft. Years later, Orpheus Wines was born and shortly thereafter a thriving tasting room in the heart of Sonoma.
While truly dedicated to preserving the earth for his children and generations beyond, Marc also possesses a passion for art. The Orpheus Wines brand is uniquely designed around the beautiful and inspiring wire sculptures of Steve Lohman. Steve's fascinating works can be found on the wine labels, business logo and throughout the tasting room which doubles as an art gallery.
