Winemaker:
Kevin Mills
About the Winemaker:

Winemaker Kevin Mills grew up in Oklahoma, where his family grew have grown vines since 1977. After years of hard work and many “interesting” wines they decided to go to school. Kevin enrolled in Grayson County College’s Viticulture and Enology program at Denison, Texas and together started Canadian River Winery. Kevin met Tony Peju of Peju Province Winery and mentored under then Peju Winemaker Sean Foster for four and a half years. Kevin took the winemaker position for Trinitas Cellars in January, 2007. His emphasis is to mainstream Trinitas with top tier Bordeaux and Burgundy varietals. Kevin has introduced Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet programs to the Trinitas Portfolio.

Recently, Winemaker Kale Anderson took over the winemaking at Trinitas Cellars.

Vineyard:
The Meritage Resort & Spa Estate Vineyard
About the Vineyard:
The Meritage grapes come from our estate vineyard located at the Meritage Resort & Spa, in the shadow of the iconic Grape Crusher Statue. The Vineyard is seven and a half acres and home to all five noble red Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The Vineyard is northern facing, allowing constant sun exposure throughout the day. The gentle slope of the vineyard in combination with the rocky soil gives the vines great drainage to maintain berry concentration. It is not typical to plant these varietals in the normally cooler southern part of Napa. However, it allows for a longer growing season with more “hang time” for the grapes.
Additional Winemaker Notes:
Winemaker, Kevin Mills, blends this wine piece by piece. He uses the modern technique of cold soaking prior to fermentation. This ensures maximum color extraction and the preservation of fruit flavors. Our namesake wine is then barrel aged for 20 months in 100% new French oak.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Bold red blends deserve big, bold foods. Pair with beef, especially grilled, roasted or stewed, or braised dishes like lamb or venison. Game meats all pair wonderfully with this wine as do dishes with eggplant, mushrooms or pungent herbs. Also pair hard aromatic cheeses like Roquefort, Blue and Camembert varietals.
