Winemaker:
Laura Barrett
About the Winemaker:
Laura Barrett brings her passion for wine, a life-long love of science and attention to detail to winemaking at Clif Family. Inspired by her first harvest in New Zealand, Laura received a Masters in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California, Davis and trained under some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated winemakers. With a vineyard-driven approach and a focus on organic farming, Laura is enthusiastic about working to create balanced and elegant wines.
Vineyard:
100% organically farmed grapes from premium vineyard sources in Napa Valley
About the Vineyard:
The fruit for Clif Family Winery Rte Blanc is sourced from two vineyards in the Napa Valley. The first is a dry-farmed, 1.5 acre vineyard just north of downtown St. Helena. This site has been farmed by the Amendola family for over 30 years and in 2018 we converted this site to organic farming.
Secondly, we source from Yountmill Vineyards, a CCOF certified ranch on the valley floor in Yountville.
Additional Winemaker Notes:

Hand harvested in the cool morning hours, the fruit is whole cluster pressed into tank. The juice is cold settled for 48 hours before initiating fermentation with cultured yeast. Just after peak fermentation, the wine was put into both stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels. The wine is aged in these barrels with no malolactic fermentation.

Aged 84% Stainless Steel and 16% neutral French oak barrels for four months.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Serve with light dishes like linguini, clams and shrimp scampi. First courses such as soup, salads, antipasto and seafood dishes are particularly good pairings. Fresh herbs bring out the best in this style of wine. In addition, the wine's high acidity allows Sauvignon Blanc to cut through the fat in cream based dishes, making anything with an Alfredo sauce base a perfect match. Enjoy also with soft cheeses.
About the Winery
Clif Family Winery Most of us are familiar with Clif Bars. It may even be common knowledge that Gary Erickson and Kit Crawford started the business out of their garage. What is impressive to learn, however, is the wide-ranging lifestyle brand Clif Family has grown into, including an expanded line of healthy food products, Clif Family Winery, Clif Family Tasting Room, the Bruschetteria Food Truck, and Clif Family Napa Valley artisan food products.
