Winemaker:
Laura Barrett
About the Winemaker:
Laura Barrett brings her passion for wine, a life-long love of science and attention to detail to winemaking at Clif Family. Inspired by her first harvest in New Zealand, Laura received a Masters in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California, Davis and trained under some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated winemakers. With a vineyard-driven approach and a focus on organic farming, Laura is enthusiastic about working to create balanced and elegant wines.
Vineyard:
Gobbler Grove Vineyard
About the Vineyard:
The grapes for Clif Family Winery Petite Sirah are sourced from the Gobbler Grove vineyard, owned by Mike and Kelly Nichelini. The vines were planted in 2006 in the Eastern Hillside of the Napa Valley Appellation at 1200 ft elevation.
Additional Winemaker Notes:
Hand harvested in the cool morning hours, the fruit is cold soaked for three days. During fermentation, temperature and extraction are carefully managed. The wine is then pressed off the skins and placed
in French oak barrels for aging. Aged 20 months in 30% new French Oak barrels.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Petite Sirah tends to be big and bold, so matching food must be equally as powerful. Choose foods with good fat (to stand up to the tannins) and big body, like ribeye steak, a juicy cheeseburger or smoked pork shoulder. The spiciness of the wine can accent a leg of lamb or try Mexican cuisine as the heavy fruitiness can soften the perceived heat. For cheese, choose dry and strong cheeses that contain high fat content. Enjoy!
About the Winery
Clif Family Winery Most of us are familiar with Clif Bars. It may even be common knowledge that Gary Erickson and Kit Crawford started the business out of their garage. What is impressive to learn, however, is the wide-ranging lifestyle brand Clif Family has grown into, including an expanded line of healthy food products, Clif Family Winery, Clif Family Tasting Room, the Bruschetteria Food Truck, and Clif Family Napa Valley artisan food products.
