While Americans adore their California red wines, they have a secret love affair with Bordeaux, France. Home to 5 famous grape varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot, Bordeaux has made red blends famous, some fetching thousands of dollars. Viszlay Vineyards has produced a wine with all 5 Bordeaux varietals, all from Russian River Valley and all estate grown. The result is pure balance and elegance. It is no wonder this is their flagship wine.
A beautiful vibrant red in color, the nose produces excitement like unwrapping multiple gifts at Christmas. First red and black fruits, then cedar and tobacco, followed by soft smoke and enticing earthiness. The palate is intense, balanced and full, present in every part of the mouth. The flavors are complex and fruit forward with cherry, boysenberry and currants leading the way. Notes of vanilla and cinnamon transition into full tannins and a long persistent, enjoyable finish.
