Tasting Notes:

You can almost taste the 200 year history in this wine. The romantic story makes this juice of the vine even more interesting than its outstanding flavors.

A beautiful deep red, inky wine greets you as it meets the glass. Aromas of ripe red fruits, vanilla, eucalyptus and cola stand out on the nose. The palate is a mouthful of ripe cherry, currants, spice, and hibiscus. Enjoy a lovely finish with balanced tannins.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
In the late 1800's, this property was a full fledged farm and winery serving the elite who vacationed there. While the wine is delicious alone, it seems natural to pair with a hearty meal. Lamb, beef, pork, sausage, grilled meats, stews, and game will all pair beautifully with this wine. Dishes with black olives, black pepper, pungent herbs, and mushrooms will also complement nicely. Hard cheeses and salami make a perfect accompaniment as well.
About the Winery
Vine Cliff Winery The fascinating story of Vine Cliff Winery dates back to the 1800's. The original vines were planted by one of the early Napa pioneers, George Yount (Yountville's namesake) in 1830. After Mr. Yount's death, Vine Cliff came under new ownership and by the 1880's was an impressive and thriving winemaking facility. Perhaps most notable and memorable about the 1880's and 1890's is that Vine Cliff became a social retreat and playground for rich and famous San Franciscans. Learn more
