Tasting Notes:

We have followed Michael Trujillo for years as he has ascended the ranks of notable winemakers in Napa Valley. We are honored to now bring you his own personal label as he passionately crafts this classic Left Bank Bordeaux-style blend. The grapes for this wine come from some of Napa’s coveted vineyards of the Rutherford, Howell Mountain and St. Helena AVAs, including Herb and Jennifer Lamb, Gary Morisoli and Bryan Henry.

Trujillo’s 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon brings together the best of all five Bordeaux grape varietals. Deep red and concentrated, it is nearly opaque and shows off a slight purple hue. The nose reveals layered aromatics of blueberry, blackberry jam, dried fruits and cigar box. On the palate, this wine is classically full-bodied (it is a 2015!) yet refined and balanced. Flavors of black currant, black cherry, forest, and cola intermingle perfectly. Evidence of the French oak barrels weave in flavors of hazelnut, cardamom and mocha. Robust tannins punctuate a delightful experience and command another sip.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Cabernet Sauvignon, typically bold and powerful in style, works well for similar food accompaniments. If paired properly, it can produce a highly memorable dining experience. To compliment its stronger tannins, pair with richer meats like beef steaks, beef and pork roasts, venison, lamb and hamburgers. Also serve with mushroom dishes and meals seasoned with savory herbs and pepper. Experiment with a charcuterie plate including salami, cured meats and cheeses such as aged Gouda and Cheddar, Parmesan and Gruyere.
