Tasting Notes:

Do not dismiss Zinfandels with higher alcohol which can indicate darker, riper, richer qualities. And this wine delivers on that theory! It is quite young, so still delightfully fruit forward.

This is the best of the best from Tonti Family Wines. Their barrel select Zinfandel which comprises the best grapes from the best vines in the best vineyards. The color is a brilliant red/purple, like rich crushed velvet. It stains the glass with concentrated legs. Become intoxicated (pun intended) by the aromas of fresh picked wild blueberries and black cherry. A good swirl reveals whiffs of vanilla and eucalyptus. On the palate appreciate intense blackberry bramble, spice and a little mocha. The balanced acidity is apparent as it delivers an enjoyable, lovely long finish.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Drinking Zinfandel? Grab your grillables! Try Italian sausage, spare ribs, brisket and hamburgers. Experiment with various barbecue sauces, or raid the spice rack for black pepper, basil, thyme, Italian parsley, bay leaf and fennel. Go roasted with turkey, duck or chicken. Zinfandel also works well with Greek and Hispanic cuisines. Hosting a cocktail hour? Pair with a Parmesan, aged Cheddar, aged Gouda and Asiago cheese and cracker plate.
About the Winery
Tonti Family Wines It was a business deal that included Portuguese corks, of all things, that finally gave Peter Tonti the push he needed to follow a longtime dream. Peter's father was from the old country, and it was part of the Italian culture to make wine in the basement. Assisting in the winemaking process and being allowed to sip small amounts of wine as a child was the start of his dream to be just like dad. Learn more
