Tasting Notes:

Wines from the Rutherford AVA are coveted by wine enthusiasts and this property in particular, in the heart of Rutherford, has been making some amazing Cabernet Sauvignon since the seventies. This single vineyard estate cab deserves to be in your cellar and in your glass.

The 2009 James O’Neil has a deep red color with purple hue and rich aromas of cassis and dark fruit. On the palate, an explosion of blackberry, dark cherry and dark chocolate combine beautifully with the vanilla and cedar notes. Concentrated flavors, abundant fruit, lively acidity and a long, persistent finish present a finely balanced wine that has been aging perfectly in our cellar since its release.

A wine this big with such pristine structure and winemaking attention can age for a long time. It is tasting beautiful now, but will hold another 10+ years

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Cabernet Sauvignon is sometimes hard to pair with food because it is a big wine that often overpowers the dish. But when paired properly, it can be the meal of a lifetime. Because of its stronger tannins, pair with fattier meats; beef steaks, beef and pork roasts, venison, lamb and hamburgers. Also serve with mushroom dishes and meals with herbs and pepper. Hard cheeses can be a nice compliment. And try bitter chocolate for the sweet tooth.
