Tasting Notes:
This rich, well balanced Cabernet Franc comes from the first yield of fruit from the small “patio block” vineyard on Pine Mountain, situated at 2,800 feet. An intense, deep red with glints of deep purple at the core, the wine shows off lush aromatics and flavors of blackberry and currant, spicy pepper notes, dark chocolate with hints of vanilla oak. Silky on the palate with a perfectly satisfying acidity, the wine lingers and lingers leading to its long, luxurious finish.

About the Winemaker:
Doug Hackett is a seasoned vintner and a true artisan winemaker with over 100 medals and 90+ point ratings throughout his winemaking career. Prior to his work with Spicy Vines he also founded and made wine for two boutique wine brands, including Dogwood Cellars. Doug is known for sourcing the greatest grapes from notable regions, with an emphasis on producing small batch, artisan wines. He prides himself on shepherding, not controlling, wines though the winemaking process while allowing them to develop into the best they can be. The team also attributes his fun attitude, charisma and knowledge as a large part of what established the “vibe” of Spicy Vines.
About the Vineyard:
Pine Mountain Vineyards sits on the upper western flank of Pine Mountain, at an elevation 0f 2,200 to 2,800 feet. The high elevation farming reliably deliver fruit intense in color and flavor. The micro-climate of the vineyard exhibits all the characteristics associated with high-elevation viticulture. These include cooler daytime and warmer nighttime temperatures than in the valley, longer sunlight hours, and cooling oceanic breezes. Ideal for Cabernet Franc of great character.

Aged for 22 months in 50% new French and American oak barrels

This wine will beautifully pair with hearty stews and sauces. Experiment with elk, venison and lean cuts of beef. Hard aged cheeses and mushroom-based dishes are delightful as well.
About the Winery
Spicy Vines For Crystalyn Hoffman, Co-Founder and Managing Director or Spicy Vines, a serendipitous and fortuitous experience occurred during a trip to Germany. She was intrigued by a local tradition of sipping delicious, hot mulled wine with friends. Returning home, she wondered how such a wonderfully social custom had not translated to American culture, so she set out to make the introduction. Learn more
