Tasting Notes:

Make no mistake, this is a serious Zinfandel. And making serious small batch artisan wine while having fun with it is the mantra of Spicy Vines. This lean, non-jammy Zinfandel is named for the famous wise Zen Masters who perfect and teach their craft.

The appearance is a lovely ruby at the rim and garnet in the center. It is fresh and spicy with aromas of cherry and raspberry along with hints of vanilla. On the palate, this wine has great acidity up front with black cherry and wild raspberry flavors followed by black pepper, clove and caramel. The finish is pleasingly long.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Perfectly balanced and full of fresh fruit flavors, this Zin makes for an easy wine to pair with food. It pairs beautifully with BBQ pork ribs, roast leg of lamb, steak, Italian sausage, venison and brisket. Also match with hearty vegetarian dishes, tomato-based pasta dishes such as lasagna or spaghetti, beef stew or chili. Pair with cheeses such as Parmesan, aged Cheddar or Gouda, Asiago or Pepper Jack. And finally, mix with some of your favorite cocktails, like Sangria, to "spice" up your next drink.
About the Winery
Spicy Vines For Crystalyn Hoffman, Co-Founder and Managing Director or Spicy Vines, a serendipitous and fortuitous experience occurred during a trip to Germany. She was intrigued by a local tradition of sipping delicious, hot mulled wine with friends. Returning home, she wondered how such a wonderfully social custom had not translated to American culture, so she set out to make the introduction. Learn more
