Tasting Notes:

“The 2006 Solo has a dense purple color, a big, sweet nose of lead pencil shavings intermixed with crème de cassis, new saddle leather, charcoal, and spice box. Its brilliant delineation and full-bodied texture, with nothing out of place in a seamless integration of all its building blocks make for a stylistic, flavorful, elegant, yet powerful wine to drink over the next 20-25 years.”

One of the first three vineyards planted to Cabernet in the appellation, Silverado’s Stags Leap vineyard helped establish the reputation of the Stags Leap District AVA. The vineyard is blessed with western and northern exposures to the late afternoon sun. It is also home to Silverado’s winery, located on the northeastern top of the knoll, surrounded by slopes of gravelly soils which form the vineyard’s individual blocks. The result is Cabernet with flavors of plum and black cherry, excellent acid structure and fine-grained tannin, all classic characteristics of wines from Stags Leap District.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
A big, bold, complex wine like this needs a dish that can stand up to its full body. Steak, grilled pork, hamburgers and pasta with meaty red sauce are all good pairings. Hard cheeses pair especially well with Cabernet, like aged Gouda and mild Blue cheeses.
About the Winery
Silverado Vineyards Diane and Ron Miller started their journey in the 1970’s with the purchase of their first vineyards. “It was beautiful land, and it was land that was working,” says Diane Miller. The Millers sold their grapes to some of Napa’s best vintners, who made award winning wines from them year after year. Encouraged by the success of their grapes, Diane and Ron established Silverado Vineyards in 1981 with the goal of making the best wines the estate could produce and offering it at a fair price.
