Tasting Notes:
Produced in the Old World style of balanced wine making, this Zinfandel was made from grapes grown on 143 year old vines from Harvey Vineyards’ Vineyard 1869. Winemaker Scott Harvey wanted the wine to be a pure expression of the Amador County terroir and OLD WORLD wine making techniques with a good balance of fruit, structural tannins and medium alcohol. This is a briary Zinfandel that was aged in French oak. Deep raspberry, allspice, cloves and cinnamon, balanced with a fleshy center and hints of coffee, leather and bright currants. It shows old vine complexity and first growth quality.

Zinfandel is big and bold with high acidity and tannin which means it can stand up to meat dishes and cut through fat providing a perfect balance of flavors. Pairs beautifully with BBQ pork ribs, roast leg of lamb, steak, Italian sausage, venison and brisket. Also try tomato based pasta dishes such as lasagna or spaghetti, beef stew or chili and cheeses such as Parmesan, aged Cheddar or Gouda, Asiago or Pepper Jack.
About the Winery
Scott Harvey Wines Winemaker Scott Harvey, voted one of California’s top ten winemakers, got his first taste of fine wine and winemaking as a high school exchange student in the Rhineland Pfalz region of Germany. He enrolled in California State University at Sacramento before beginning enology training at Montevina Winery. He went back to Germany to apprentice at the prestigious K. Fitz-Ritter Winery while attending the Weinbau Schule in Neustadt. After returning to the U.S. and Montevina Winery Scott eventually accepted a position as Head Winemaker for Story Winery at the young age of 23. Learn more
