Tasting Notes:
Perched in the rocky northeastern corner of the valley, these vines enjoy a sunny view of the Russian River Valley. This wine was aged in 35% new oak which contributed to the exotic spices, superb concentration and youthful acidity. This elegant Zinfandel exhibits the briary black fruit, blueberry and ripe strawberry notes typical of the region. A small addition of Petite Sirah rounds out the mid-palate structure, enhancing warm cloves and pepper from the mature Zinfandel fruit. The well-balanced structure will allow the wine to be enjoyed over the next five to ten years.

Leslie Sisneros
About the Winemaker:
Winemaker Leslie Sisneros always knew she would have a career involving plants and gardening and it seems fate led her to a prominent career in winemaking. She graduated from UC Davis with a Plant Science, Viticulture degree before gaining experience over the course of 20+ years at such prestigious wineries as Kendall-Jackson, Arista, Kastania, Anderson Oaks Vineyard, and Oakwild Ranch (Toboni Vineyard). Today she consults and runs her own winery, Ispiri Wines. Her connection with the earth, vines and climate allow her to create wines that are intensely flavored, with excellent structure and elegance.

About the Vineyard:
This beautiful, panoramic vineyard is set in a sunny southwest facing mountain slope. Cooler than neighboring Dry Creek Valley AVA and Chalk Hill AVA, the soil here is rocky and each grape bunch is matured to its fullest in order to develop the signature Zinfandel fruity aromas and flavors. Handpicked and gently de-stemmed, the grapes then spend five days cold soaking in stainless steel to preserve the fruity aromas and flavors.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Zinfandel is big and bold with high acidity and tannin which means it can stand up to meat dishes and cut through fat providing a perfect balance of flavors. This wine pairs beautifully with BBQ pork ribs, roast leg of lamb, steak, Italian sausage, venison and brisket. Also try tomato based pasta dishes such as lasagna or spaghetti, beef stew or chili and cheeses such as Parmesan, aged Cheddar or Gouda, Asiago or Pepper Jack.
About the Winery
Sandole Wines Sandole Wines is a family owned micro-winery focused on the finest single vineyard grapes. The winery was conceived from a life-long love of wine and deep rooted family history in the area. With sustainable farming practices dating back to the late 1800’s, the ranch battled phylloxera and Prohibition but found their grape resurgence in 1987 with the planting of a new six acre parcel of Pinot Noir and Zinfandel soon after.
