Tasting Notes:

Wine is a living, breathing entity. Like us, it evolves with time. Often you can experience a wine's evolution over years, or months, or hours. This one is intriquing! It kept me engaged as it changed over the course of writing these tasting notes. What a fascinating experience, and the following is how I captured its journey.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep red color. The nose reveals cranberry jam, dried lavender and toasted hazelnuts. The flavors are many; juicy cranberry and boysenberry, ripe plum, smoked fig and tart cherry. True to its varietal, it is spicy - star anise and black pepper. Pair this ever changing selection with our favorite curry dish or spicy barbeque.

About the Winery
Orpheus Wines Life's journey is sometimes circuitous, and for Orpheus Wines' owner and winemaker, that path started in Seattle while finalizing degrees in medical technology, biology and dance. Unsure how to move into the professional phase of his life, Marc Krafft took a long backpacking trip through Europe hoping for inspiration. Inspiration found him on a high speed train in France where he met an enthusiastic winemaker from Bordeaux Learn more
