Tasting Notes:

While yields were low in 2014, quality was stunning and this small production estate blend is quite impressive.

The introduction to this wine reveals an inky reddish purple color. The nose is delightful with plentiful aromas of dark berries, dried herbs and sweet tobacco. The palate is powerful and robust with flavors of rich black cherry, blackberry and black currants followed by thyme, leather and cigar box. It finishes with a hint of vanilla and well defined tannins.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Inky, complex and hearty, this Cabernet Sauvignon will stand up to the heavier dishes. The team at Monticello Vineyards suggests these specific dishes with the Jefferson Cuvée: Roasted venison with wild blackberry sauce over porcini polenta, French onion soup and smoked cocoa-ancho beef ribs. General pairing suggestions include beef (grilled, roasted, stewed or braised) and recipes with eggplant, mushrooms or pungent herbs. Also pair hard aromatic cheeses like Roquefort, Blue and Camembert. Find food and wine pairing recipes here:
