Tasting Notes:

Montagne Russe 2017 Robert's Road Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast A truly dynamic yet delicate chardonnay, the grapes for this wine are grown in the gravely silt soils between two river beds imparting the perfect balance of minerality and nuance.

In the glass, this wine appears medium gold in color. The nose comes to life with aromas of star fruit, stone fruit, Dutch apple pie, baked walnuts and hints of flint and minerality. The palate opens with lemon meringue and evolves with flavors of ripe pear and honeydew melon present. The growing location is evident as wet stone and a crisp acidity punctuate this elegant and food friendly wine.

About the Winemaker:
Vineyard:
Owned by the Sangiacomo family, Roberts Road Vineyard sits at an elevation of 100-150 feet just 10 miles north of Petaluma. Built on the old bed of a creek, the soil drains excessively well, producing light and expressive wines. Handpicked, the vineyard crew pulls only the finest clusters off the vine, leaving anything that doesn’t make the cut.
About the Vineyard:
  • Aged on the lees for 12 months
  • Aged 14 months in 40% new French oak barrels

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Rich and lengthy, the diversity and depth of this Chardonnay will pair well with rich and more complex dishes. While ideal for your Thanksgiving dinner, enjoy also with chicken Alfredo, Lobster with drawn butter, sausage in a mild sauce (but not spicy). Also pairs well with creamy soups, meaty fish like salmon and sea bass, crab, scallops, cheese soufflé dishes, cream based pasta dishes and Caesar salad. Cheese pairings include triple cream cheese, Gouda, and aged Cheddar.
