Tasting Notes:
Delicate on approach, the lovely translucent strawberry red color seems demure, but one sip reveals flavors more intense than it lets on. With a lovely nose of ripe red fruits, savor flavors of red cherry, cranberry and black raspberries (sweeter than blackberries, everyone should try this berry). At this point the acidity kicks in followed by subtle baking spice, violets, hints of wet leaves (what is a Pinot Noir without a little earthiness?), cola and just enough BBQ smoke to make this an elegant and layered wine perfect for food.

About the Vineyard:
The Tondre Grapefield Vineyard, owned by Tondre Alarid and son, Joe Alarid, is located in the heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation. The gravelly loam and sand vineyard sits at 300-400ft in elevation and is planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Montagne Russe team says of the Alarids, "They are solid salt of the earth people. They are farmers at heart who put their soul into the soil".
Additional Winemaker Notes:

Food Pairing Suggestions:
While this cool climate Pinot Noir will drink wonderfully on its own, it will also be a perfect accompaniment to roast fowl, other game birds, mushroom-based dishes, pork chops and fish stew.
