Tasting Notes:

Syrah…the undervalued, overachiever of grape varietals. Michel-Schlumberger grows a few different Syrah selections on both their upper and lower ranches. Dry Creek Valley is quickly becoming known for its Rhone varieties. With cool nights and a long, sunny growing season, the taste of this wine tells us this Syrah will add to the reputation.

The fruit for this Syrah gives a big nod to the mountains where it was grown. It displays a distinct acidity that underscores the powerful fruit your nose won’t want to pull away from: plums, blackberries and fig all make an appearance. Syrah is one of the most versatile varieties grown at Michel-Schlumberger. Consistent, high-quality fruit grows on the Western Benchlands overlooking Dry Creek Valley. This Syrah is handcrafted into a wine showcasing a love for distinctive wines of place (terroir). This is a stunning example of delicious complex fruit followed by amazing balance and long, lingering finish.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Lamb is the ideal food pairing with Syrah. Other pairings include: pork, sausage, grilled meats, stews, game, black olive dishes, dishes with lots of black pepper, dishes with pungent herbs, and mushroom dishes.
