At MacPhail Tasting Lounge at The Barlow in the heart of Sonoma, a unique and informative wine tasting educates wine lovers about the effects of soil composition on wine. Purchase this wine by the case (12 bottles) and bring 3 friends to taste (in VIP fashion) and expand your understanding of the effects of terrior on a wine's flavor.
Tasting Notes:

This lush and complex wine is from the lesser known but quickly rising Anderson Valley, home to coastal vineyards producing world-class Pinot Noir. Buttressed along its western edge by the Pacific Ocean, this unique climate makes it an ideal growing region for the most finicky of grapes. With warmer days and shiver-inducing nights, great acidity is almost guaranteed.

This wine shows an abundance of fruit and spice on the nose along with floral notes. Bakeshop spices lead the way on the palate followed by plum, black cherry and boysenberry. Well integrated flavors of violets, forest floor and cinnamon weave in. The tremendous acidity perfectly balances the alcohol and allows for a desirable savory finish.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Pinot Noir makes for a great wine to serve when entertaining. It's a crowd-pleaser and pairs well with everything from appetizers to dessert. Pair this wine with duck, lamb, chicken and turkey. Also try meatier fish, lighter pasta dishes and vegetarian items such as white pizza for a delightful combination. In addition, cheeses such as Edam, Gouda, Gruyere, light Cheddars and Chevre are excellent pairings. Fruit or nut based desserts should be considered.
