All Pinot Noir, all the time. That's the specialty of James MacPhail of MacPhail Family Wines. Quite particular in his vineyard selections, each wine is unique, characteristic of it's location and simply fabulous.
Big, bold and always evolving, it shows spice and a characteristic earthiness, rich in red fruits led by wild cherry and offset by black cherry. There’s a smoky side that makes me yearn to demonstrate how to pair Pinot & barbecue, and the tannins are supple and lingering, lasting well into the night, which a glass of this rarely does, it’s that pleasing. I just can’t resist saying it: this dawg is definitely in the hunt and in fact, runs right on ahead. One notable critic said it best – "strikingly good.”

Located in the coolest part of Russian River Valley, the Southwest corner, Green Valley is one of the smallest appellations in Sonoma County. It is quite unique geographically and climatically, and is the most consistent of any North Coast appellation in terms of soil, climate and flavor.
The fog is Green Valley’s characteristic feature. The predominant soil type (60%) of this American Viticultural Area (AVA) is Goldridge soil, the most sought-after type in Sonoma County—especially for Pinot Noir. There is a wonderful cohesiveness among the Green Valley wineries; their wines share a distinctive flair.
