Tasting Notes:

"Recently, I was speaking at a charity wine event in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was a high-end shindig with a lot of big-name Napa Valley wines (and owners) in attendance. But truffled among the more famous labels were a number of very small producers who are far from the spotlight, never mind being in Napa Valley. Anyway, I'm tasting through the array and come upon a 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon from a winery in the new Coombsville AVA, called Le Chanceux. Heard of it? Me neither. And why should we have? This micro winery produces only 200 cases, total. I taste their 2008 and … zing! Now, some of you likely know that I'm no pushover for Cabernet, but I'm here to testify that the 2008 Le Chanceux Cabernet grabbed me and wouldn't let go. It was a stunner."

~ Matt Kramer, Wine Spectator

If the 2007 was a mind-blowing wine experience for you, as it was for many, you must have this 2008. Similar to its predecessor, this vintage is big, bold and beautiful. Deep penetrating purple hue greets aromas of blackberry pie, black cherry, boysenberry, tobacco and anise. Still quite robust for its age, the flavors of cassis, cranberry, and cigar box are supported by hearty tannins and finishes with a healthy and desirable dose of bakeshop spices.

About the Winery
Le Chanceux Robert and Susan McNerney (a self-proclaimed francophile), moved to the Napa Valley and planted Cabernet Sauvignon vines on their estate property in 2002. Le Chanceux, pronounced luh shuhn sue, is rooted in family from the winery name, to the vineyard, and also to the wine itself. Le Chanceux means "The Lucky One"; a reminder to their three daughters, Lauren, Ellen and Jennifer, how lucky they were to be blessed to live in the beautiful Napa Valley, a destination where world class wines are produced.
