Winemaker David DeSante began his career in wine a little differently than most. After completing approximately half his courses in medical school in Virginia, David decided to take his career path in a completely different direction. He moved to California and earned his Master’s degree in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California, Davis. Upon graduation, he was hired on at Robert Mondavi Winery to research grape variety clones. He also worked harvest in the Margaret River region of Australia before returning to Napa Valley as Winemaker at S. Anderson Vineyards. Today, David serves as consulting winemaker for several small Napa Valley wineries in addition to producing wine under his own label.
