Tasting Notes:

Jaclynn Renée Wines 2015 Pinot Noir, Bacigalupi Vineyards, Russian River Valley

A beautiful label for an elegant wine, the yellow rose represents friendship, joy and good health. As a native Texan, Winemaker Jaclynn Renée says it also holds a special place “deep in my heart”. A glimmering pale ruby in color, this single vineyard Pinot Noir shows off enticing red fruit aromas – fresh red cherry, red plum and ripe cranberry– layered with notes of baking spice, vanilla, dried mint and subtle potpourri. Light and clean on the palate, with a refreshingly balanced acidity, pleasant, soft tannins and red fruit, vanilla and spice notes that carry through on the mouthwatering, lingering finish. Cool in the fridge for 15 minutes and enjoy your perfect summertime red!

Jaclynn Renée Wines
Jaclynn Renee van Sant Downes
About the Winemaker:
Jaclynn Renée Wines was started by a passion for winemaking and hard work. Native Texan Jackie van Sant Downes moved out to Sonoma County from Texas to start her wine career in 2007, and in 2013 she made her dream a reality by starting her own brand. She focuses on the finest quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rosé from some of the best growing regions in the world, the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast, and is fortunate to source prestigious fruit from Bacigalupi and Robert’s Road Vineyards.
Bacigalupi Vineyard
About the Vineyard:
Bacigalupi Vineyards, Frost Ranch. The Bacigalupi family has been farming grapes in the heart of the Russian River Valley for over 50 years. Located off the famed Westside Road just west of the town of Healdsburg, the Bacigalupi vineyard has become known for consistently producing world class Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel. The Pinot Noir grapes are grown in soils, varying from rocky red clays to well-drained rocky volcanic loams. There is a small block beside the Russian River, but most the vineyards are planted in the rolling hills to the west. The combination of the soil structure and the hillsides provide for optimal growing conditions. Six distinct pinot noir clones are grown on approximately 44 acres.
Additional Winemaker Notes:
15 months in barrel - 30% New French Oak, Remond and Francois Freres Cooperage; 100% French Oak
91 pts – Wine Advocate
Gold Medal - San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Gold Medal - International Women’s Wine Competition
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Pinot Noir is considered a very food friendly wine, due to its higher acidity and balanced tannins. Explore pairings like rosemary encrusted lamb, smoked duck or an herb-roasted chicken. Also experiment with meatier fish like tuna and salmon. Cheeses like aged Cheddar, Gouda, Chevre and Gruyere will make for a great cheese plate.
About the Winery
Jaclynn Renée Wines Inspired by her aunt, a wine bar owner in Texas, Jaclynn took only three days after her graduation from Texas Tech, then immediately headed to Sonoma for her first wine internship in 2007. She quickly realized she was quite good at manual labor and figured out the first week that she wanted to do it forever. Learn more
