Inspiration Vineyards 2011 Old Vine Zinfandel
Inspiration Vineyards
Region: Russian River Valley, Sonoma, CA
2011 is a very special vintage of Old Vine Zinfandel for Inspiration Vineyards as they suffered a complete loss of the 2010 crop.
From the “Front Yard” of this quaint little property comes this Zinfandel from 100+ year old vines. Your introduction to this ultra-small production wine fills the nose with distinctive bay and cardamom. On the palate you’ll find concentrated flavors of dried herbs, white pepper, black cherry and cranberry with nicely balanced acidity and low alcohol.
This wine is unfiltered, so the winemaker recommends allowing the wine to rest upright for a few weeks before serving to avoid sediment in your glass.

Jon and Barbara Phillips
Winemakers Barbara and Jon Phillips produced their first barrel of wine in 1999. After seeing their success, they became licensed and bonded in 2001 to produce wine commercially. This is a drastic change from Jon’s previous career in IT where he successfully worked in the Sonoma County, California area.
Like many winemakers in northern California, winemaking is in Jon’s blood. His great-grandparents owned vineyards in the early 1900’s in San Martin, California. In 2001 Barbara and Jon purchased 4.5 acres of vineyards in Sonoma County and in 2002 expanded to contract with another winery so they could produce their first commercial wines. In June of 2003 they officially released their first vintage, with production around 500 barrels. In more recent years they have continued to expand and grow, opening a tasting room and offering daily tours.
