Honrama Cellars 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon
Honrama Cellars
Region: Napa Valley, CA
Working with a single varietal can sometimes be tricky, especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Blending different grapes gives the benefit of other varietal characteristics to shape the flavors of the wine. In Bordeaux, for example, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the predominant grapes grown, but are rarely, if ever, bottled as single varietals. It is with good soil, ideal climate, and most of all, an experienced and passionate winemaker that a Cabernet Sauvignon by itself shows this kind of balance and complexity, and make you love Cabernet Sauvignon even more.
This beautiful, full-bodied Cabernet has layers of flavors and depth of complexity, while showing a softness at the same time. The deep red color will lead you to flavors of black fruits like black cherry, plum and blackberry. The intrigue of this wine continues with hints of black licorice, coffee and cedar. The finish has well balanced tannins and a long lingering finish of mocha and spiced cherry pie.
