Tasting Notes:
This luxurious Syrah opens big and smoky, with notes of vanilla raspberry cream soda. It transitions gracefully into a complex, balanced palate, with ripe dark black cherry flavors on the finish. A small amount of Viognier adds a delightful exotic and velvety touch.

Winemaker:
About the Winemaker:
Vice President Ryan Hill stated if you want to dream in color, drink wine. This dream soon became a reality for Hill Family Estate when Winemaker Alison Doran joined the team and made the inaugural 2001 vintage. Alison was introduced to the Hill family while she was making wine for Lewis Cellars. They loved Alison’s style, personality and determination to produce the finest wines possible. Alison developed her skill while being mentored by renowned wine expert Andre Tchelistcheff, completing a degree in winemaking from UC Davis and spending time in the legendary winery-filled region of Alsace, France.
Vineyard:
About the Vineyard:

The Clarke Vineyard in American Canyon has a cool breezy climate bringing forth the depth and finesse of the Syrah grape. The 2011 vintage was a cool year with late rains and cool temperatures throughout the summer. Careful vineyard management and precise picking time have proven to showcase this Syrah in all of its glory!

Lamb, pork, sausage, grilled meats, stews, and game will all pair beautifully with this wine. Dishes with black olives, black pepper, pungent herbs, and mushrooms will also complement nicely. Look for recipes where power is combined with elegance to mirror this wine’s style.
About the Winery
Hill Family Estate After three decades of farming grapes for some of Napa Valley's finest wine producers, Doug and the family decided that their family should enter the wine business. Hill Family Estate was born out of the desire for the family to work together - sharing the experience of crafting fine wines that showcased the grapes that Doug farmed and then introducing those wines to the consumer at a tasting room in their hometown, and American foodie capital, Yountville, California.
