Angel Favorite:

Spring is in the air! And that deserves a crisp, complex, hand-crafted Chardonnay. The Glasshaus Wines Chardonnay has been in high demand since we featured it last year and it will pair perfectly with warm weather, the back yard and good friends. This hidden gem grows in a vineyard with rows adjacent to Chardonnay twice its price. Stock up and enjoy this Angel Favorite all summer.

Tasting Notes:

Burgundy-style descriptors are sometimes overused. In this case, however, they are right on target. With experience making wine in France, Glasshaus Wines' Owner and Winemaker Rodney Gagnon brought those skills to the Sonoma Coast. He makes a wine many would say is anything but traditional California Chardonnay.

This wine appears light golden and reflective in the glass. In the aromas you'll discover a lighter style wine with Asian Pear, Granny Smith apple and minerality. The crisp palate boasts bright acidity with flavors of lemon zest, hints of grapefruit, pears and apples. The extraordinarily long finish leaves you with citrus and Chablis-like minerality to pair perfectly with shell fish or a light summer dish.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
This crisp, refreshing Chardonnay pairs with food more like a Sauvignon Blanc than a Chardonnay would. The citrus and minerality make it an especially appropriate pairing for light dishes like linguini with clams and shrimp scampi. Serve with first courses such as salads, antipasto and seafood dishes. Fresh herbs and fruit within dishes bring out the best in this style of wine. Serve with sushi and Mediterranean cuisines. Enjoy also with soft and medium-hard cheeses.
About the Winery
Glasshaus Wines Serendipity! Every winery has a special story of how they came to be, but a bike accident in Burgundy initiating a passion for winemaking? It's true. Boston born, Rodney Gagnon met the mayor of a quaint Burgundy town while recovering. One taste of the mayor's privately produced wines and Rodney was hooked. Learn more
